HAKA Premium Sipping Rum

In the midst of the unprecedented events of 2020 and 2021 and with ample time on my hands due to lockdowns, I seized the opportunity to catch up on my list of “things to be done” here at The Boutique Distillery Ltd in Gloucestershire.

Having embarked on my whisky-making journey in 1989, my venture into crafting rum dates back to around 1990. I vividly recall producing my inaugural batch using the juice extracted from fresh sugar cane, a shipment arriving from Fiji at our local harbour. The process involved an antiquated hand-cranked mangle washing machine that would squash the sugar cane spurting the cane juice down a chute and into a bucket. This was just the first process in many that was required to make an awesome deep rum!

With things playing on my mind for years, I dedicated myself to making a great Rum a few years ago. Now, after patiently allowing it to mature in American white oak ex-Bourbon casks, HAKA Premium Sipping Rum is ready to be unveiled as a celebration marking the end of lockdown 3.0.

Personally, I find joy in savouring the delightful flavours of a very good rum neat to really appreciate it, but for those moments when a long drink beckons, I have a favourite concoction:

HAKA Premium Rum - Fentimans or Bunderburg Good Ginger Beer - 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters - Ice - Garnish with fresh mint.
